Motorcycles Rev Up For Roar To The Shore 2010!

Monday, August 30th, 2010

There’s only one thing motorcycle fans love more than lacing up their boots, strapping on a helmet, and hitting the road on their bikes, and that’s experiencing the thrill of the open road with their buddies; if those fellow riders happen to number around the 100,000 thousand mark then even better. It’s hard to imagine that many motorcycle enthusiasts coming together in one place, but that is just what is going to happen September 9th-12th when Roar To The Shore 2010 comes blazing into Wildwood, New Jersey. Typically your average northern beach town, Wildwood’s 5,000 residents welcome the annual event each year with open arms and tons of attractions to keep bikers coming back year after year.

Dating back over 15 years, Roar ToThe Shore was started by Wildwood’s own motorcycle club the Cape Classics. At first the rally was simply a way for local riders to all get together once a year in a nearby vacant lot, then as the years progressed so did the number of riders in attendance. Eventually Roar To The Shore gained the attention of some of the motorcycle industries biggest sponsors like Budweiser, Jack Daniels, and Yamaha. With all the support coming in not only from motorcycle clubs all over the Northeast, but from national and local officials as well; the organizers of the rally soon decided that something needed to be done to help those less fortunate in the area. This desire to give back to the community soon lead to the Rubber Duck Boardwalk ride with all proceeds from the event going to the local chapter of the United Way. Thanks to the donations raised each year along with the help of United Way, residents in and around Wildwood are provided with the funds to feed and clothe their families.

Along with the Rubber Duck Boardwalk other events include:

  • A motorcycle ride to nearby Kindle Ford for an old fashioned Pig Roast
  • A Walking Poker Run that promises $1,000 to the winner
  • The always popular Annual Biker Babe Contest with the winner receiving $1,000
  • On the last day of the event a drawing will be held for a chance to win a brand new motorcycle

Over the years while other motorcycle rallies and events have begun charging entrance fees, those behind making sure Roar To The Shore goes smoothly have been living up to a promise they made to themselves long ago and that’s to always keep the event free and the gates open to the public. Event organizers are also looking for bigger and better attractions to keep the rally fresh and new each year. For 2010 they’ve lined up the first ever Wildwood Tattoo Beach Bash. Not only will visitors to the Tattoo Convention get to meet some of the hottest tattoo artists out there today, but the event will also feature a trick skateboarding demo, a tattoo contest, several art exhibits, and a chance to appear in the pages of a tattoo magazine. Just to up the ante that much more motorcyclists and fans of death defying stunts are sure to be excited to see the sword swallowing, snake charming, knife throwing, fire eating, chainsaw skills of the Lucky Daredevil Thrill Show featuring the jaw dropping Ancient Egyptian Cabinet of Death!

Roar To The Shore isn’t just about hanging out with the guys and watching some amazing acts, for those that find themselves constantly daydreaming about a new motorcycle Yamaha Motor Corp is sponsoring a demo ride that could make those dreams a reality. With bikes from Star Motorcycles and Can-Am, only those who are legally certified to operate a motorcycle can participate in the demos so  for those planning on taking some of the coolest bikes on the planet for a spin, make sure to bring identification and a motorcycle license.

To make the four day event even more convenient for all those motorcycle riders planning on staying until close on Sunday, a list of Biker Friendly Hotels has been posted on the official Roar To The Shore website along with a map on how to get to Wildwood no matter where you are coming in from. Make your plans to attend this annual motorcycle rally today and be one of the 100,000 bikers taking over the beach come September 9th!
