Whether you’re mucking stables or riding wide through Wyoming, motorcycle boots can work hard for you on or off your ride. The custom once was that work garb and leisure wear didn’t mix on the job, but we can thank updated boot styles, quality workmanship and advancements in fiber technology that allows for a cross over from work to play and back.
Types of Motorcycle Work Boots

Double H – Western wear is worn on and off the range and cowboy boots appear on New York runways. So to see a western work book, like the Double-H, doing double-duty is no surprise. The classic “mocc stitched” boot will keep your feet comfortable all day long.

First off, there are motorcycle safety “no-no’s,” and then there are the motorcycle ‘faux pas’ (as in publicly embarrassing yourself), because you don’t have a clue about social cues. We’ve pluralized “pas” as we’ve been subject to way too many insufferable assumptions among fellow motorcycle riders.
Safety Don’ts
We’ll start with safety warnings that constitute not only a breach of etiquette, but also could cause bodily harm. Here are a few safety faux pas’:
- Do not share a lane (side by side) with someone who hasn’t told you it’s okay.

Since the mid-19th century, Minnetonka, Minnesota has evolved from heavily wooded wilderness through extensive farming and thriving industrialization to its present primarily residential suburban character. The Dakota and Ojibway Indians were the first people to settle in the area.
They believed the land around Lake Minnetonka (minne meaning water and tonka meaning big) was the legendary home of an extinct race. In fact, the word “Minnetonka” comes from the Dakota Indian mni tanka meaning “great water”.
Today, Minnetonka moccasins are as prized as Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes.

It’s a common misconception that motorcycle riders are all male, but research shows that women continue to take up riding. According to the Motorcycle Industry Council, women made up 12 percent of owners in 2008, compared with 6 percent in 1990. Significantly, only 4% of motorcycle drivers killed in 2009 were women, probably because women are hard-wired for safety and most likely wear a motorcycle helmet.
Research also indicates that younger generations have even more female riders. Some 15 percent of Gen X motorcycle owners are women and, for Gen Y, it’s 14 percent.

As bikers we are all too often stereotyped as these thugs that care for nothing but riding our hogs up and down the road all day breaking any and every rule we can find, and picking up any broad that will give us the time of day. Sure we love taking off on cross country trips wearing a worn out leather motorcycle jacket, but after a long day on the road there is nothing we would rather do than kick back and watch a movie.

We all know that one of the first things that happens when a motorcycle is cranked is that the exhaust system begins to rapidly heat up and continues to get hotter the longer the bike is running. With temps that can get well over 250 degrees even with the help of an exhaust cover, you still run the risk of seriously burning you lower legs and feet every time you climb on. For passengers this risk becomes even more of a concern simply due to where they have to ride. With any motorcycle there is always going to be the risk of being trapped under and exposing yourself to some serious heat, this is why a good pair of motorcycle boots is an essential precaution.

For those of us that have been spending every waking hour shoveling, sliding on, losing sleep over, and missing work because of the constant snow fall March 20 was a historic day. Warmer temps are beginning to arrive all across the country as the first day of spring officially arrived!
Like a rabid dog who has been scratching at the door begging to get out, the time has finally come for all those bikers out there to pull their bikes out of the shed and ride till the wheels fall off. Before you can feel the sunshine on your face and the wind in your hair though, that motorcycle isn’t the only thing that needs to get prepared for the good times ahead.

Say what you want about Hollywood and those that keep us glued to the latest tabloid covers at the checkout line, but one thing that cannot be denied is they are the true yardstick for measuring when a fad has officially taken over the world. Lately it seems that more and more Minnetonka moccasins have been turning heads and popping up in some of the oddest places.
On the feet of the children of legendary performers. The name Lourdes Leon may not mean much to the Average Joe, but her very famous mother is responsible for changing the face of music forever. Daughter of the always in fashion Madonna, Lourdes was spotted just this month sporting a pair of Minnetonka Thunderbird moccasins.
